On Monday April 13th the NJHS asks everyone to wear a hat for $2.00 to support the Jimmy

Fund. Monday is Opening Day at Fenway Park for the Red Sox. The National Junior Honor Society would like to thank everyone for participating in the Second Annual Penny Wars. We raised $1,143.60 in one week! The winning classroom was Ms. McCormack. Ms. Frazier's classroom came in 2nd Place. They will be challenging each other in a Dodgeball game before vacation. Ms. McCormack's classroom will also vote between Batten's Research, American Heart Association, Epilepsy Foundation, Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and the National Kidney Foundation to determine where the money raised from the Penny Wars will go.

Scoliosis Screening!!!

April 7, 2015

Dear Parent or Guardian:

            The Memorial Middle School will be doing an annual Postural Screening during the week of April 13, 2015.  The Massachusetts General Law c.71, s.57 requires all public school systems in the Commonwealth to provide postural screening to all students in grades 5 through 9.  If a parent or guardian refuses to have a postural screening by the school, written documentation provided by the physician must be submitted to the school nurse (i.e. a recent physical).

            The purpose of this screening is to find early signs of possible spinal problems in children in Grades 5 through 9.  It is not a diagnostic service but a program to identify young people who should have further medical evaluation.

            If your child has any unusual findings, you will be notified and asked to take the child to a physician as a precaution.  The majority of students exhibit no findings.  If nothing unusual is found, we will not be contacting you again until the screening next year.

            Female children are asked to bring a two-piece swimsuit or halter-top and shorts to school the day of the screening.  This type of clothing permits more accurate observation of the back. The screenings will be conducted beginning the week of April 13th, during physical education/ wellness classes.

Spring greening offers a dual way to make an impact on your community.  You can re-use, re-purpose, and re-cycle items you no longer need in order to assist local children living in homeless and low income situations, while reducing the number of items that go into landfills each year. 

We are collecting new and gently used:

On Friday February 27, 2015, Memorial Middle School will be hosting March Madness. There will be events throughout areas of the school from 5:45-9:45. The cost of admission for students is $5.00, there will be pizza and beverages available for purchase. If any parent would be interested in volunteering for the evening please contact Mr. Kelley via e-mail @ gkelley@town.hull.ma.us or at school: (781) 925-2040 ext. 1103. Hull Youth Lacrosse!!

Hull Youth Lacrosse's 2015 Spring Season Registrations are now open!!

Fee for the 2015 Spring Season is $115.00/player, which shall include each player receiving a pini and shorts that the players keep at the end of the season.

U11 Team = 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd & 4^th grade

U13 Team = 5^th & 6^th grade

U15 Team = 7^th & 8^th grade

The Spring Lacrosse Season shall begin in the middle of March and run through the middle of June.

Practices are 2 nights a week with games on Sundays.

It is mandatory that all players when registering on-line through Hull Youth Lacrosse's on-line registration system follow the US Lacrosse League registration process as well.

Please make sure that the player you are registering either becomes a member (if the player has never registered with US Lacrosse before) or the player renews their membership go to www.uslacrosseleague.org.  This is a fee of $25.00/year which is to be paid directly to US Lacrosse League.

No player will be allowed on the field without a current US Lacrosse League membership prior to the first game.

If you are mailing your payment to HYLAX and are not registering on-line, you will still need to register or re-new your player(s) US Lacrosse League membership. You can go directly to www.uslacrosseleague.org.

                                     Enrichment and Recreation

Dear Parents and Children,

I’m pleased to present the second session of the Memorial Middle School MASPER program! Thanks to a number of teachers and parents, we have wonderful MASPER after-school programs planned for six weeks beginning Monday, Jan. 12th.  Please read the descriptions (on the back of this form) of the enrichment activities we have planned for your child.  Choose the activity that is best suited for your child/children.

Classes are on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday . Classes are one hour: from 2:45-3:45 p.m.  The rate is $30 for one class, $50 for two classes, and $75 for three classes.  Classes fill quickly so please get your registration form and MASPER fee in as soon as possible.  Any class with insufficient enrollment will be cancelled.  On half-days, or no school, there will be make-up classes TBA.

PICK-UP MANDATORY BY 3:45!! There will be a late bus on Monday and Thursday. Also, your child can walk home with your permission noted on the form below.  Pick up will be at the Cafeteria Entrance.

Remember that placement will be first-come, first-served, so send those registration forms in with payment!!  Please return form ASAP!!  Call Monique Roche at 781-925-1739 with any questions.

YOUTH BASKETBALL INTOWN PROGRAM

Hull Pirates Youth Basketball will hold player evaluations for the upcoming season this Saturday, December 13^th at the Jacobs School.  

The schedule by grade is:

                                   

8-9AM                 3^rd/4^th/5^th Grade ‘Junior Girls’ Division

9-10AM               3^rd/4^th/5^th Grade ‘Junior Boys’ Division

10-11AM             6^th/7^th/8^th Grade ‘Senior Girls’ Division

11-12PM             6^th/7^th/8^th Grade ‘Senior Boys’ Division

In town evaluations are held to help coaches assess the skill level of the players in order to put together competitively balanced teams. There are no evaluations for the 1^st/2^nd grade program. The season will run from the beginning of January through the end of March with games played on Saturday and practices held on Sunday.

The cost to participate in the program is:

$90                             One Child in Junior or Senior Program

The registration period will run up until our evaluation day on December 13^th, please note that your child must be registered in order to participate.

The in-town program is a fun recreational league for grades 1^st-8^th which allows children of all abilities to develop basketball skills and compete in a friendly atmosphere. The season will run from the beginning of January through the middle of March with games played on Saturday and practices held on Sunday. The price for 3^rd-8^th grade is $90 for one child, $170 for two children in the immediate family, and $215 for three children in the immediate family. Our 1^st-2^nd grade program is $55 per child.
