Enrichment and Intervention... What is it??

Enrichment and Intervention is a new school day program that gives our students the opportunity to receive additional assistance during the school day.  The program also allows our students to participate in a variety of enrichment activities.  Students can choose to spend time with a teacher to receive extra help or, teachers can choose students to visit them to focus on particular skills, help with basic skills, or introduce advanced topics not normally covered during the school day.  Additionally, teachers offer additional academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular experiences. Take a look at the pictures below to see a few of the opportunities available to students.  In addition to the pictures below, teachers are currently offering a sewing class called Ugly Dolls that introduces students to basic sewing; writing classes have been offered in comedy and horror; a basic equestrian theory class to introduce students to a new sport or to develop the skills of experienced riders; and a variety of gym activities are offered to keep students active.

Mr. St. George teaches Bucket Drumming.
Students can take an extra art class during the day.
This is a great opportunity for Grade 7 students that do not have art as part of their regular schedule.
Students work with Mr. Sullivan to build the base of a trebuchet.
Students launched pumpkins during our Rally and Turkey Trot.
It was a real blast!
Mr. Whittle helps students improve their chess skills.

Students can take piano lessons with Mr. St. George on a piano, synthesizer, or their iPad

Some of our older students work with our younger students on organizational skills under the supervision of Ms. MacDonald.

Parent Letter: Conferences, Get Linked, Bake Sale, and Early Release

November 10, 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Students have completed the first quarter of the 2015-2016 school year!  Report Cards will be posted by Friday, November 13th.  The end of the first quarter is an important benchmark for students.  I strongly encourage every parent/guardian to make the most of this report card period by meeting with their child’s teacher(s) during Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Parent-Teacher conferences will be held on Monday, November 16th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and on Tuesday, November 17th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.  Grade 6 parents/guardians will meet with the entire team. Grade 7 and 8 parents/guardians can make appointments with up to 2 teachers. Any grade 7 or 8 parent/guardian that would like to meet with more than two teachers should call the school on the day of their appointment to see if additional appointments are available. To make an appointment, please contact Ms. Casey in the main office at 781-925-2040. In the event that all conferences are book, please contact the teacher directly to schedule an appointment at a time after conferences are complete.

I would also encourage parents/guardians to contact teachers, our guidance department, or administration anytime questions or concerns arise.

During Parent-Teacher Conferences, the National Junior Honor Society and Student Council will host a bake sale.  All money raised will be used to support student activities at Memorial Middle School.  Please support our students and purchase some tasty treats!!

One way to stay connected to Memorial Middle School and your child’s progress is to use the technology the district has available.  However, some parents may not be familiar with this technology.  To help, the district is sponsoring a technology night for all parents called “Get Linked”.  This event will run this Thursday, November 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and will offer a variety of different sessions.  Parents/Guardians can drop by at any time.  Child care will be available, but you must contact the main office at the middle school to reserve a space (781-925-2040).  For more information, please see the document below.

Finally, due to Parent-Teacher Conferences, students will be dismissed at 1:45 pm on Monday, November 16th.   Lunch will be served.

Thank you for efforts working with the faculty, staff, and administration of Memorial Middle School to provide the best possible education for the children of Hull!

Sincerely,

Tony Hrivnak
Principal

2015/16 HULL YOUTH LACROSSE INDOOR LEAGUE!

2015/16 HULL YOUTH LACROSSE INDOOR LEAGUE

Hull Youth Lacrosse League's indoor 2015/16 Lacrosse season will be getting underway in November.
Over the past few years Hull Youth Lacrosse players have participated in the Legacy Indoor lacrosse league at The Hanover U Complex in Hanover.
We have had teams at the U15, U13 and U11 levels (U11 play in Pembroke).
The league runs from late November through early March.
For several of those years the Hull Youth Lacrosse program subsidized the entry fee per team each season. This year as a program we are not able to do this but still want the kids to have an opportunity to play if interested.
With that said, for Hull Youth Lacrosse to enter a team at any or all levels the cost is $3400.00 per team for 13 weeks at all levels, one game a week on Sunday. With 17 kids per team it works out to $200 a participant ($15.38 a week). The cost goes up or down depending on the number of players that register.
If your child or children are interested in playing please contact Chris Weber as soon as possible.
He will compile the number of players for each level and see where HYLAX stands.
If HYLAX has 17 at any or all levels we’ll move forward, collect the registration fees and register the teams.
Please feel free to check out the Legacy Indoor Lacrosse website for any details I may have missed.
If you have any questions feel free to contact Chris Weber at 781 925 2810 or chweberlax@comcast.net

Thanks
Chris Weber
President, Hull Youth Lacrosse
