Attendance Wars - Progress Report!!!

The first week of Attendance Wars is complete and we are off to a great start!  Memorial student's experienced a decrease in the tardy and absence rate in 10 out of 13 first period classrooms.  Recall that we are looking for the best attendance and the most improved attendance over a two week period.   Winners of the first round of Attendance Wars will be announced at the end of next week.

Here is a look at the leader board:
For best attendance (lowest rate of tardys and absences):

Leading the pack in a virtual tie are Mr. Watson's and Ms. Sullivan's classes.   Very close behind the leaders, in a virtual three way tie are Mr. Young's, Mr. Rosenfeld's and Ms. Tannuzzo's first period classes.

For most improved attendance (as compared to the previous nine weeks):

We have a virtual tie for first place between Mr. Watson’s, Ms. Sullivan's and Ms. Reardon’s class.  In a very close second place are Ms. Hanley’s and Mr. Rosenfeld's first period class

All classes still have the possibility of winning as we have seen attendance improve across the board in almost every class.  Winners will be announced next Friday after the attendance is tallied.

Attendance WARS are coming to Memorial Middle School!!

Memorial Middle School is starting a new program called “Attendance Wars.”  The faculty, staff, and administration would like to reward first period classes with the best or most improved attendance.  First period classes at all grade levels will compete against each other to win games of dodgeball or other gym time, free cookies, cafeteria privileges, and other rewards.  For a first period class to win, all students need to do is be at school every day and be on time.  We will award the classes with the best overall attendance and the most improved attendance every two weeks.  We will also update students on class progress each Friday in the afternoon announcements.

Attendance is very important. Students need to learn that good attendance is a skill that is necessary now for school and in the future for work.  Every time a student is absent or tardy, a classroom interruption occurs to all students in that class.  Memorial has experienced an increase in the number of students absent from or tardy to school this year.  Please support your child and the school by encouraging excellent attendance!!
