As the calendar year draws to a close, I take time to reflect on the successes of the school and the community as well as the challenges we must overcome.  I hope that parents/guardians and students are well aware of the consistent improvement Memorial Middle School has made over the last several years.  At the start of the school year, the middle school received its PARCC test scores showing a another year of consistent improvement.  Most recently we received the results of the PSAT’s that are administered at the end of October to grade 8 students.  These results were truly outstanding.   The Middle School exceeded the state average by 34 points and the national average by 46 points.

National Average
MA State Average
MMS’s Average
814
826
860

PSAT score reports were mailed home to grade 8 parents last week and will be reviewed with students in school next week.  Congratulation to our students, their parents/guardians, and our faculty!

Finally, a few reminders:
  1. Join the middle school’s students and staff at our Winter Chorus Concert on Tuesday, December 20th at 7:00 pm.
  2. Friday, December 23rd is the last day of school in 2016.  This is a full day of school.  Our first day back in the new year will be Tuesday, January 3, 2017.
  3. Memorial Middle School collects BOX TOPS.  Students should drop off Box Tops to the main office or to Mr. Sullivan.  Students that submit Boxtops will be entered into a drawing to win fabulous prizes.  Money raised from Boxtops is used to support our Engineering/Technology program.
  4. Additionally, most school announcements will be made through blogspot, facebook, and twitter.
To receive announcements by email, please go to the blogspot website and enter your email address where indicated on the right side of the screen.  After you have entered your email address, you will get an email from “Feedburner.”  You must click on the link from Feedburner to confirm your email address.  Once your email address is confirmed you will receive an email whenever an announcement is posted from Memorial.

Thank you for efforts working with the faculty, staff, and administration of Memorial Middle School to provide the best possible education for the children of Hull!  As always, it is a pleasure working and learning with your children.

Sincerely,

Tony Hrivnak, Principal
