The National Junior Honor Society distributed candidate forms on
Tuesday, December 2nd to those students academically eligible for consideration
for membership in the National Junior Honor Society. Eligibility to apply to
NJHS is determined by a student’s cumulative grade point average, which must
meet or exceed our chapter’s standard for Scholarship currently set at 3.8 on a
4.0 scale. These candidates should be proud of this personal accomplishment,
which serves as the first step in our selection procedures.
The candidates are now eligible to submit additional information
for consideration to the chapter’s Faculty Council. In addition to the Scholarship standard,
membership in NJHS is also based on standards of Leadership, Service,
Citizenship, and Character. To be selected as a member of NJHS, students must
demonstrate on their candidate form and essay that they have met or exceeded
these additional standards. An explanation of what our chapter requires for
each of these areas is included on the candidate forms.
Students that are eligible to apply, should submit the completed
forms they received directly to our chapter advisors, Mrs. MacDonald or Mrs.
Striglio, or to the main office. Candidates will be notified of the results of
the Faculty Council no later than Monday, December 15th, 2014.
If candidates or their parents have any questions regarding NJHS
or the selection process, you can contact Mrs. MacDonald or Mrs. Striglio by
phone at 781-925-2040 ext. 1105/1106, or by e-mail at rmacdonald@town.hull.ma.us or sstriglio@town.hull.ma.us.
Again, congratulations to those students eligible for NJHS.
