Memorial Engineering Course - Bridge Building

Students in our new Technology Engineering class test their designs in a bridge building competition.  Zakary Purcell pours sand into a bucket supported by the bridge to test the maximum load the bridge can support.  Hailey Chenette and Alexis Rodebush use triple beam balances to measure the mass of sand to be added to the bucket.  Jennifer Boyd records data and performs calculations with her iPad.  Mr. Sullivan digitally records the whole operation on his iPad to study the design.  This bridge supported over 9 kilograms of sand (about 21 pounds).  Students will calculate the load the bridge supported and the efficiency of the design based on the amount of materials used in the design.  Well Done!!
