NBC is Scheduled to Film at MMS. A permission slip is needed.
NBC will be coming to Memorial
Middle School on Tuesday, May 12th to film a segment for the Today
Show! The segment is about one of our
Grade 7 students and NBC has already contacted this family. The segment is scheduled to broadcast on May
21st. We expect that only grade
7 students will be filmed during first and second periods. However, as some filming may occur in the
hall, it is possible that any student in the building may be filmed. While all of the details are not finalized
yet, in order to move forward we need to obtain permission from
parents/guardians in the event that your child is filmed.
Attached to this letter are
three forms that need to be completed and returned Monday morning on May
11th. Two of the forms are from Hull
Public Schools; the third form is from NBC.
The form from NBC is written as if it were a letter that the parent is
writing to NBC. If you do not want your
child to be filmed, please do not return the forms and your child will not be
filmed.
The forms can be found here:
Should you have any questions,
comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Principal.

Spelling Bee Winners!!
The Spelling Bee has returned to Memorial Middle School!!! Today, Memorial Middle School sponsored its Spelling Bee. Several years ago, the spelling bee was an annual event at MMS but was eliminated during the most recent years of difficult financial times.
The Bee has returned!!
Over the last several weeks, students competed during their advisory period in mini spelling bees. All students had the opportunity to participate. After the mini spelling bees, 15 students remained. Today, we held a school-wide spelling bee in the auditorium where 15 students competed against each other in front of the entire school to win the title of spelling bee champion.
The second word of the competition, hereditary, proved to be a challenge to about half of the competitors. Several rounds followed before the field was reduced to two competitors. Grade 7 student Turner Mitchell was crowned champion by correctly spelling the word "philosophy." Grade 6 student Lindsey Egersheim was the first runner up. Congratulations to Turner and Lindsey on their fantastic effort. Turner won two tickets to Canobie Lake Park while Lindsey won a $10 iTunes gift card.
